All advanced analyses performed internally
Engagement and intake
Every matter begins with a conflict check, a scoping call, and a written engagement that defines the scope of work, deliverables, hourly rates, and standards of analysis. No matter-specific information is exchanged before the conflict check is complete.
Sample handling and chain of custody
Samples are received under a documented chain of custody. Custody records, sample inventories, and storage logs are retained for the duration of any active matter and for the period required by the engagement. Samples are not co-mingled between matters and are not destroyed without written authorization, with a documented certificate of destruction issued on disposal.
Sequencing platforms and partner laboratories
Sequencing is performed at CLIA-certified partner laboratories. Renovatio Genomics directs platform selection based on the question presented:
- Short-read sequencing for variant calling and mutational signature analysis.
- Long-read sequencing where structural variant resolution is required.
- Methylation-aware sequencing where epigenetic questions are central.
Platform selection, instrument identification, run parameters, and the partner laboratory’s CLIA certification are documented in every report.
Bioinformatics pipeline
All bioinformatic analysis is performed in-house. Pipelines are versioned and documented. Each report identifies the alignment tool and reference, the variant caller, the signature decomposition method, the QC thresholds applied, and the version of every reference database consulted.
Pipelines are reproducible from the underlying data. We provide the pipeline configuration on request to opposing counsel under appropriate protective order.

Reporting
Following a court order, reports identify the question presented, the analyses conducted, the findings, the limitations of the inference, the alternative explanations considered, and the references relied on. Reports are written to support a Daubert/Frye admissibility argument; we do not guarantee admissibility, which is a determination for the court.
Independence
Renovatio Genomics accepts engagements from defense counsel, plaintiff counsel, and neutral parties. We do not adjust opinions to fit a retaining party’s litigation theory. If the science does not support the proposed inference, the report will say so.
Data retention and destruction
Sequencing data, derived analyses, and reports are retained for the duration of any active matter and for a period defined in the engagement. Destruction is performed under written authorization with a documented certificate of destruction.
