Frequently Asked Questions
What is a typical turnaround?
Most engagements run between 6 and 12 weeks from sample receipt to written report, depending on the analyses involved. Time-sensitive matters can be expedited; we will tell you at intake if we cannot meet a deadline.
What is the fee structure?
Engagements are billed against a retainer at hourly rates documented in the engagement letter. Deposition and trial testimony are billed at separate rates documented in the same letter.
Do you accept work for plaintiff and defense?
Yes. Renovatio Genomics accepts engagements from defense counsel, plaintiff counsel, and neutral parties (courts, arbitrators, special masters). Conflict checks are completed before any matter-specific information is exchanged.
Will my matter be disclosed in your testimony list?
Public-domain depositions are listed on the Engagements & Testimony page after they occur. Non-public matters are described only as required by FRCP 26(a)(2)(B) or the comparable state-court rule. Renovatio Genomics does not disclose privileged information.
What sample types do you accept?
Whole blood, buccal swabs, FFPE blocks and slides, fresh-frozen tissue, and previously sequenced data (FASTQ, BAM, or VCF). Other sample types on request.
Where is sequencing performed?
Sequencing is performed at CLIA-certified partner laboratories. Renovatio Genomics directs platform selection and chain of custody. Bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and reporting are performed in-house.
What if the matter settles before report delivery?
Work to date is invoiced against the retainer. Unspent retainer balance is refundable as defined in the engagement letter.
Do you provide raw sequencing data?
All engagements include in-house bioinformatic interpretation. Raw data are made available, with their corresponding analyses, under appropriate protective order on request.
Do you take international matters?
Our primary focus is the United States. We accept select international matters where the scientific question fits our scope. Counsel should advise at intake of the procedural and disclosure framework applicable in the relevant jurisdiction.
What disclosure materials do you provide for FRCP 26(a)(2)(B)?
A current CV, a publications list, a four-year prior-testimony list, the fee schedule, and the materials considered in forming the opinion. State-court disclosure obligations vary, and we will work with counsel on the specific format required.
How are conflicts checked?
Conflicts are checked against active and archived matters before any matter-specific information is exchanged. Renovatio Genomics will not accept work adverse to a current client of the firm in the same matter, or in a substantially related matter, without written waivers.
